Every Rose Has It’s Thorn Chord Chart by Poison

Welcome to my Every Rose Has It’s Thorn chord chart by Poison. I had a few requests for this song so I’m glad that it was already in my pipeline.

This song does require us to tune our entire guitar down a 1/2 step to sound like the original. What does that mean? Instead of the guitar being tunes to standard tuning:

E A D G B e

With need to tune the guitar a little lower. So each note will be one note lower (1/2 step down):

Eb Ab Db Gb Bb eb

The chords themselves are pretty easy. We will be using my Stuck Like Glue Chords for this songs which will hopefully make the transitions easier. You can always use the easy two finger chords or even the normal C, G, Em, and D chords if you want.

Strumming:
1 + 2 + a 3 e + 4 e +a
D D D  U UD DUDU

If the 16th note syncopation is too much try

Strumming for split measures:
1 + 2 + a 3 e + 4 e +a
D D D DU D UD DU DU

Bridge Strum:
Em D Cadd9 G G/F#
1 + 2e +a 3 + 4e +a 1 2 e + a 3 4
DD DU DU D D DUDU D DU DU D D

Verse:

  We both lie silently still

In the dead of the night

Did the words not come out right

Though I tried not to hurt you, though I tried.

But I guess that's why they say

Every rose has its thorn
                 G Cadd9
Just like every night has its dawn
              | G      D|                  | Cadd9    G|

Every rose has its thorn
