My Little Girl Chord Chart by Tim McGraw

Welcome to my My Little Girl chord chart by Tim McGraw. This was a request from a student of mine who is interested in playing the song for his daughter’s wedding. How sweet!

I don’t often have time to take requests, but every once in a while I come through and this is such a great song.

This song does have a wonky chord – G#dim7….so what?

That’s OK, if you aren’t up on that lingo, You could always do a couple bass notes on the 6th string on the 4th fret for G#. You could also keep playing the G chord. It won’t sound 100% like the song. If you want it to sound 100% I would learn the bar chord.

The other chord that shows up is D/F# and this is how I play it below. A D chord with my thumb grabbing the bass not on the top string.

This is a piano song, so I might use some finger picking doing bass and block on this to make it sound a little more like the original. Now remember the timbre of a guitar will not sound like that of a piano. You could also use a simple DU strumming pattern which will work as well.

Picking/Strumming Rhythm Strumming:

1 + 2+ 3+ 4+
DU DU DU DU

Verse 2 Strumming:
1 2 3 + 4 +
D D DU DU

or

1 2 + a 3 4 + a
D D DU D D DU

Bridge:

1 + 2 + a 3 + 4 + a
DU DDU D U DDU
