And of course, one of the reason I love this song is because it uses the C, G, Em and D chords. Woo hoo!

This means we can make this song as easy or as hard as we want.

So let’s get in to how we are going to play Rockin In The Free World on guitar.

Strumming will be simple eighth notes, but if you know how to Palm Mute, this will add a lot of spice to your rhythm playing on the verses.

Strumming:

Now there is a bit of a rhythmic synocpation the comes in on the first part of the verse and parts of the Chorus. As you can see below, the C chord changes on the ‘+’ after 2. If this is too much for you, changing it over the 3 won’t be that big of an issue to play the song in an easier way.
