Wild Horses Chord Chart by The Rolling Stones

Welcome to my Wild Horses chords chart by the Rolling Stone. Great, great song. I use to love performing this one live. This song has been covered live by so many amazing artists and stand the test of time.

This song pushes guitarist a little more into the intermediate realm due to the use of the Bm barre chord, although you can use the simplified version below, but also the strumming is much more open and dynamic. I really think it’s the dynamics of this song that really sell a live performance. There’s also a lot of other little fancy things you can do with sus chords and all that jazz, but I’m going to keep this chord chart a bit more straight forward.

Let’s talk about the strumming pattern, which is a 16th note syncopate rhythm. We also have some split chords as well which makes for some cool playing and the timing a bit more intermediate as well.

Want to learn more about 16th note strumming and improve your playing? Check out Lauren’s Guitar Course.

Strumming:
1 2 + a 3 + 4 e + a
DD UDD UD U

Some picking is thrown is occasionally for some flare. Now remember there are two guitars in this song, so don’t get thrown off by the lead parts. I’m only discussing the strumming parts for this song. When I strum this song, I’m a little more flexible and fluid, but the above pattern should cover you for the majority of the song, except for the split measures.

Strumming Easier: Non-syncopated
1 2 3 + 4 e + a
D D D D D U DU

And as always, 4 down strums per measure works great.

Split Chords Verse:
|C D |
1 2 + a 3 + 4 +
D D UDD DD

Split chords Chorus:
|G F |
1 2 + a 3 4 + a
DDDU D DDU
